10U Sweep the weekend; 3-Peat & 12-0 start
I'm incredibly proud of our young baseball team's performance over the weekend. Winning all 4 ballgames played this weekend and now, three straight championships. The boys have started the season off with a perfect 12-0 record this season. This speaks volumes about the hard work, dedication, and talent of our young athletes and coaches. This is a remarkable achievement but just the beginning of our 2023-2024 Youth Elite Program.
I want to take a moment to congratulate the players, their families, and our coaching staff for their dedication and commitment to this program. It's clear that our teamwork and preparation paid off in those games, outscoring opponents 44-6. The resilience and sportsmanship displayed by our young athletes and families alike are truly commendable. 8 different pitchers contributed on the mound this weekend facing 70 batters while allowing just 14 hits (.222 ba). Offensively, the boys were swinging at strikes and taking balls. Slugging an impressive .626 as a team over the weekend (110 Plate Appearances / 99 ABs) in 4 ball games. Graham, Nico, and Eli led the way with 22 combined hits including Eli’s 4 doubles (Team High) and 1 home run that was way gone early on in the Championship. Video of Eli’s home run is attached and below. Additionally, Dom added 3 xbh’s (doubles) while Ty and Michael would deliver a pair of doubles and Ty adding the lone triple on the weekend. Defensively the boys played a clean game all weekend on batted balls from the opponent. Some self inflicked E’s that we will clean up here in practice but overall a really sound weekend on defense while players moved all around and played multiple positions on Saturday.
As the head coach, owner, and director of this program, I'm excited about the future. We should continue to focus on developing our players' skills, fostering a positive team culture, and instilling the values of sportsmanship, discipline, and hard work. Our goal is not only to win championships but also to help these young athletes grow as individuals and prepare them for success both on and off the field.
Let's celebrate this incredible achievement, and then let's get back to work in preparation of the state tournament in a few weeks.
There's always room for improvement and growth, and we will strive to maintain our high standards and continue to achieve success in the future.
Have a great week!
Yours truly in this game,
ZJ Buster
