Arizona Elite Baseball Academy officially began in 2022.
But our story starts in 2005.
In August of that year, Hurricane Katrina devastated Louisiana. Zachary “ZJ” Buster was just 9 years old when his hometown was changed forever. Friends were displaced. Homes were torn apart. Schools were shut down. For months, normal life didn’t exist.
ZJ’s family was fortunate compared to many, we endured roof damage and interior flooding, but entire neighborhoods within miles were destroyed. After moving to North Louisiana and missing an entire semester of school, students returned to classes held in trailers. That following year, ZJ attended 5th grade at Holy Cross School in the Lower 9th Ward of New Orleans, where the buildings had been torn apart by the storm and homes looked like they belonged in a horror movie with the flood lines and spray paint everywhere.
But something powerful was rebuilt there.
Not facilities.
Not scoreboards.
People. Leaders.
Slowly, classmates returned. Families came back. And through sports, and the practice, competition, and shared struggle—kids reconnected. Teams formed. Identity returned. Purpose grew.
That experience shaped everything.
It revealed that character isn’t built when things are easy.
It’s built when everything around you has been stripped away.
And it showed firsthand how powerful the game can be—not just to develop athletes, but to rebuild confidence, community, and belief.
That became the foundation of AEBA.
Built, not bought.
Too many youth baseball organizations are built around player collection, stacked rosters, and short-term wins and leaving little behind other than a trophy.
AEBA was built around development.
From day one, our focus has been teaching the game the right way - through consistent training, high-level instruction, and a competitive learning environment designed specifically for young athletes.
We are competitive.
But we do not chase rankings.
We do not chase guest players.
We do not chase shortcuts.
We chase growth.

We operate with one team per age division. Every athlete earns their place and develops within a consistent system year after year. There are no revolving doors. No temporary additions. No “win-now” roster stacking.
Every athlete is part of the family and is trusted, developed, and valued for who they are becoming, not just how they perform on a single weekend.

At Arizona Elite Baseball Academy, we hold our coaching staff to the highest standard—because we know the strength of a program starts with the people who lead it.
Our coaches are hand-selected by Director ZJ Buster through a rigorous screening and interview process, including background checks and evaluations of coaching experience, teaching style, and player-first mentality.
We believe in more than just baseball knowledge. Our Staff is made up of leaders who love teaching the game, who lead by example, and who are committed to building confidence, discipline, and consistency in every athlete they work with.
From skill development to personal growth, our coaches play a crucial role in shaping well-rounded young athletes—on the field and beyond.
Training Facilities
Based in Scottsdale, the Arizona Elite Baseball Academy is very much dedicated to making a difference for our younger athletes and their families by providing them with the top resources, instruction, facilities, and community partners in Arizona. Our facility partners, including AZ Play Ball, Arizona high schools, Redline Athletics, Push Performance, and DBAT-Scottsdale continue to make a positive impact leading to a memorable and rewarding childhood experience for each of our young athletes.
