ZJ Buster – Director, Arizona Elite Baseball Academy

Hi everyone! I’m ZJ Buster, the owner and director of Arizona Elite Baseball Academy (AEBA). Baseball has been a lifelong passion of mine, and for the past 15 years, I’ve dedicated my career to coaching youth teams, managing baseball organizations, organizing competitive tournaments, and developing young athletes on and off the field.

Originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, I earned a scholarship to play college baseball at Louisiana Tech University. After three years as a collegiate player at both the Division I and Junior College levels, I transitioned into coaching and continued my education at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. During my time at LSU, I served for two full years as an Undergraduate Student Manager under Hall of Fame Head Coach Paul Mainieri.

My experience at LSU was invaluable. I was involved in all aspects of a top-tier program—from team operations and equipment logistics to practice planning, game-day routines, and player development. I’ve had the privilege of learning from some of the most respected minds in the game, including Skip Bertman, Paul Mainieri, Tom Walter, Tony Robichaux, Greg Goff, and my father, Todd Buster. Their influence has shaped the culture and style of baseball we bring to AEBA today.

In July 2020, I moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, to coach with the Scottsdale Dirtbags. After two great years working with incredible families and coaches, I launched Arizona Elite Baseball Academy. Our ELITE program is built on a culture of excellence, inclusivity, and fun—creating unforgettable experiences for youth players and their families.

Since 2020, I’ve had the privilege of coaching and mentoring over 500 families through the game of baseball. I treat that responsibility with the same seriousness and passion as I would coaching at the highest levels. Our program is built on trust, culture, and accountability—and we’ve created something special that blends elite competition with deep community roots. I’m always looking for ways to elevate the experience for our athletes and families. We’re not just building ballplayers—we’re shaping futures.

Over the years, I’ve had the honor of coaching several highly competitive teams and supporting players who have gone on to represent national programs and thrive both on and off the field.

At AEBA, we believe in Building Up Champions For Life.
